Marlene DeRosa, PT

Marlene has had a comprehensive physical therapy career which spans the scope of physical therapy. Her widespread knowledge includes pediatrics, geriatrics, wound care, and all aspects of orthopedics. Although she is the chief administrator of DeRosa Physical Therapy, she prides herself in the fact that she has never stopped doing what she loves most - working directly with her patients.

"I believe it is so important to listen to the patient on each and every visit. That is what makes each patient and their individualized treatment so unique. A trust develops and through this communication and trust, we can work together to achieve their individual rehab goals."

Marlene has been in Flagstaff since 1979. Marlene was one of the first Directors of Physical Therapy at Flagstaff Medical Center and helped to develop their rehabilitation program. She has assisted in providing physical therapy to the Flagstaff Unified School district and was one of the first physical therapists in Flagstaff to work with the Division of Developmental Disabilities to provide services to their pediatric clients. She began working with her husband at DeRosa Physical Therapy in the 1980's with her scope of practice varying form orthopaedics to pediatrics. She now is the chief administrator of DeRosa Physical Therapy, and continues to treat patients ranging from 2 weeks of age to 98 years of age. DeRosa Physical Therapy was truly the first "Mom and Pop" physical therapy practice in Flagstaff. It has withstood the threats of big business physical therapy and is committed to its vision of individualized care of its patients.

"Like any family over the years, our therapy family has grown and matured. However, I feel that DeRosa Physical Therapy continues to have that same 'Mom and Pop' atmosphere and dedication to our patients that it had when it originated almost 30 years ago."

Marlene graduated from Wartburg College and completed the Mayo Physical Therapy Program in Rochester, Minnesota. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and its Private Practice Section and is the Payer Relations Liaison for the State of Arizona for the Arizona Physical Therapy Chapter. As the Payer Relations Liaison, she represents Arizona nationally in the reimbursement arena serving on its national committee. She was awarded the Physical Therapy Practice award by the American Physical Therapy Association. She is very committed to the Flagstaff community serving for many years on the Big Brothers Big Sisters Board of Directors and more recently on the Victim Witness Board of Directors. She has also been a finalist for the Athena award in Flagstaff.

She and her husband Carl have raised 3 wonderful children who are now adults and have families of their own. Marlene and Carl find themselves traveling whenever possible to Orlando to see their 2 darling grandchildren. Marlene likes photography, reading, exercising, and traveling with her husband.
